Video: ‘We Made Too Many Mistakes’ – Mauricio Pochettino Discusses Issues in the Midfield Against Club Brugge

Paris Saint-Germain struggled to implement their style of football against Club Brugges to open up the UEFA Champions League competition. The capital club did get off to a good start opening the scoring. However, they didn’t generate much throughout the 90 minutes, and Brugge would score to tie the match.

Following the 1-1 draw, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to Canal Plus, where he discussed the lack of chemistry between Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé.

“Yes, we need time. We need time to work, for them to get along, for the three of them to succeed in playing well. It was clear, and I have explained it in recent days: we have to form a team,” Pochettino said.

One of the glaring weaknesses that many saw from the PSG squad was the midfield. Pochettino discussed what occurred in the middle part of the pitch against Brugge.

“We needed more consistency, more solidity. We made too many mistakes. We had to find a lot more fluidity in our game,” Pochettino said. “We wanted to do it with Julian (Draxler) in this position and Danilo, who had to help the central defenders a little more to build from behind. And Paredes already had a yellow card as well.”
