Marco Verratti returned to the Paris Saint-Germain lineup against Manchester City, where he played in 78 minutes. The midfielder displayed the qualities that the capital club missed while he was out with an injury.
RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo discussed on After Foot RMC PSG’s midfield in the 2-0 win over the Premier League side. The French football analyst also provided his opinion on what midfielders Mauricio Pochettino should be rolling out for the Ligue 1 club to win the competition.
“Idrissa Gueye is my favorite; he is obviously the man of the match… He was extraordinary! I can also say in the third man of the match, Marco Verratti was my third man and Marquinhos in two. He was very, very good in the first half, where he was more than useful on all outings,” Riolo said.
“In the first half, he was very good. In the second it was more complicated, however. (…) Your third midfielder must be Wijnaldum; if you want to be a boss in the midfield and you want to win the Champions League, you put Wijnaldum on his feet, who is a very good player, he must play! If Verratti finds his condition, you have Gueye to surround him and you have Wijnaldum in Liverpool form, your midfielder, you have it!”
