Paris Saint-Germain signed Sergio Ramos in early July, and the former Real Madrid defender isn’t the only prominent central defender heading into Ligue 1 this season.
Olympique Lyonnais landed Jérôme Boateng on a free transfer from FC Bayern Munich after signing a two-year contract. The 32-year-old spent nearly ten years with the German club and won several trophies.
Boateng and Lyon held a press conference, and one of the questions asked to the Germany international is playing against Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi.
The former Bayern Munich defender has been on the winning side against Messi, such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final victory. There are also some bad moments versus the Argentine such as the dribble in the UEFA Champions League, with the German falling backward.
“I had good and bad experiences against him. This is normal in football. I don’t know if anyone can say that he had a good experience with Messi,” Boateng said.
The first matchup between PSG and Lyon is on September 19th.
