Video: ‘I Don’t Even Like to Speak in Interviews Anymore’ – Neymar Lashes at Brazilian Media Following Victory Over Peru

Over the last few days, Neymar Jr. has been on the receiving end of criticism for his physique. There were plenty of journalists and pundits calling the 29-year-old overweight. The Paris Saint-Germain had to post a shirtless photo to dispel these comments.

Following the Brazil national team’s 2-0 victory over Peru, where Neymar had a hand in both goals, the PSG forward spoke right after the fixture. He vented a bit of frustration on how the media in the country covers him.

“The collective is the most important; I have always appreciated that. At the same time, I’m very happy to have the record for qualifying goals, be the best passer with the Brazilian national team jersey, and soon, if all goes well, overtake Pelé (Neymar has 69 goals with the national team and Pelé 77),” Neymar said.

“I don’t know what to do with this jersey anymore for the guys to respect me. Media reviews? It’s normal, but not with me. It’s been a long time since you journalists, commentators, and others. Sometimes I don’t even like to speak in interviews anymore, but at important times I come to give my opinion.”
