Danilo Pereira is now in his second season with Paris Saint-Germain. The Portuguese midfielder heavily featured with the French powerhouse last season, where he appeared in 23 Ligue 1 fixtures and scored two league goals.
Pereira sees that Ligue 1 is far from an effortless league to feature in, which he spoke further about to PSG TV.
“It’s a very difficult league, which includes very competitive teams, teams that are very strong physically and tactically,” Pereira said. “It’s difficult to win points away from home. Ligue 1 is very interesting to play in. I think that we have started this season with a lot of focus and respect for every team.
“We can’t allow an opponent to take points from us at home, because it’s our home, our fortress, we can’t drop points.”
While Pereira is not regularly called upon to start for PSG in must-win matches, he has been a pivotal player off the bench for the team. Just this season, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino featured Pereira as a substitute in the team’s UEFA Champions League group stage opener against Club Brugge and the Ligue 1 home opener against Strasbourg.
For now, Pereira sure will be looking to earn more playing time minutes in key fixtures with the team over the course of this season, especially in the Champions League competition.
