Paris Saint-Germain understands that the improvement of the midfield continues to be a priority. The capital club saw its name connected to players such as Paul Pogba and Eduardo Camavinga, but no transfer occurred for either of those players.

Nonetheless, sporting director Leonardo understands that PSG needs a midfielder at the level of Marco Verratti, and it appears as though they have a target in mind.

According to FC Inter News, the Ligue 1 side has its eyes on Nicolò Barella. It doesn’t come as a surprise that PSG’s club chief eyes a talent in Serie A as it’s been publicly known that it’s his league to shop for players.

The 24-year-old is under contract until 2024, but the midfielder would like an improved salary. The report states that Barella and his representative eye a new contract that will see him earn at least €5.5 million as an annual salary.

Inter Milan is dealing with financial issues, which resulted in the Italian side selling Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea FC and Achraf Hakimi to the French giants.

It will be interesting to see whether the Serie A club agrees with Barella on a new salary, or perhaps PSG’s interest tempts the midfielder to join his fellow Italy international teammates in Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
