PSG Manager Pochettino Provides a Key Update on Ramos’ Calf Injury

New Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos is still yet to make his first appearance with the team. The veteran Spanish defender has been sidelined as of late due to a calf injury and will miss PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Olympique Lyonnais as a result of the injury.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is much aspiring to see Ramos soon make his season debut with the team, which he spoke further about during a recent press conference (via Le Parisien) ahead of the matchup against Lyon.

“Regarding the date, we don’t have any precision,” Pochettino said. “We hope that he will be available soon. He remains calm, he continues his preparation and we hope that he can play as soon as possible.”

For now, PSG will continue to call upon Brazilian defender Marquinhos to lead the team’s backline in key matches in all competitions. But once Ramos makes his return to action after his injury recovery process, there will be much talk over whether Marquinhos will stay and lead PSG’s defensive line or go on to occupy the defensive midfielder position instead.
