Pochettino Defends Mbappe After the Forward Was Whistled Before PSG’s Fixture vs. Clermont Foot

As Kylian Mbappe was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid over the recent summer transfer window, the Paris Saint-Germain forward was whistled before the team’s Ligue 1 home opener against Strasbourg.

Before PSG’s key home fixture against Clermont Foot, the forward was once again whistled by the home fans.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino touched on this matter after the team’s key 4-0 win over Clermont Foot. The Argentine noted (via RMC Sport) that Mbappe has simply been a professional with the team this season.

“I did not hear,” Pochettino said. “But I heard the ovation he received when he went to shoot a corner in the second half, with the affection of all the Paris fans. He is a great professional, a great player and a good boy, he has a lot of love for this club. He has shown it since he has been here.

“He is focused on getting better every day, helping the team and fulfilling the club’s goals. He shows a lot of respect every day for this club, so we have to salute him.”

Mbappe had a key showing in the match as the forward scored one notable goal.

It will surely be interesting to see on whether Mbappe will continue to hear whistles and boos in PSG home fixtures.

The PSG forward has delivered in Ligue 1 play so far this season, as he leads the league in goals with four.
