Paris Saint-Germain is off to one promising start in Ligue 1 play this season. The French powerhouse currently sits at first place in the league standings with 21 points from eight matches.
For PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes, he is much pleased with the team’s performances so far this season, which include the notable 2-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais. In speaking to PSG TV, the Argentine midfielder offered his reflection on PSG’s showings in league play so far this season.
“The squad feels very good and we’ve won our first seven league games,” Paredes said. “It’s a very good start, unfortunately we weren’t able to win our first Champions League game against Brugge. But we have another chance on Tuesday to turn things round.
“I see the group getting better and better physically, there’s a lot of players and we’re there each time the coach needs us.”
PSG watched as Lille OSC shocked many when it came away with the Ligue 1 title last season. Paredes is much focused on once again claiming a league title in his run so far with PSG.
“Losing the league title last season hurt us a lot,” Paredes said. “This season, we will give our all in each game to win and be champions again. It’s not easy, every team is strong, and sets us a big physical challenge. We are preparing ourselves as well as possible to win.”
For now, PSG is currently set for an upcoming home fixture against Montpellier in Ligue 1 play. It remains to be seen on whether Paredes will be called upon to feature in this league matchup.
