Messi Ranks Behind Casillas, Ronaldo and Xavi in a Historic Champions League Stat

Lionel Messi made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League competition with Paris Saint-Germain in its group stage fixture against Club Brugge.

Messi was active over the course of the match, but in the end, he did not come away with a goal contribution in this clash with the Belgian side.

Still, Messi made history in the match, as he appeared in the 150th match of his Champions League career, which ranks fourth all-time in this list behind Iker Casillas (177), Cristiano Ronaldo (177) and Xavi Hernandez (151).

Messi featured alongside Xavi for a multitude of Champions League duels during their time together at Barcelona. And both Casillas and Ronaldo starred in numerous key matches in this competition during their time at Real Madrid.

Depending on just how much Messi aspires to play in Europe moving forward, he does have a chance to soon break this record, which would just add to his legacy in this competition.
