Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez believes that Lionel Messi’s free transfer move to Paris Saint-Germain will be a positive for the Argentina national team.
Messi completed his surprise move to PSG last month. Initially, one storyline that blossomed following Messi’s signing with PSG centered on the fact that he would now be playing alongside La Albiceleste teammates Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes at the club level as well.
For Martinez, he sees that this will be key for Argentina, which he spoke further about to the Argentine-based outlet El Pais.
“Nobody could have imagined it,” Martinez said. “Now, these days in the national team, I saw him well. He is involved in PSG. The fact that he plays with Ángel [Di María] and Leandro [Paredes] is positive for the Argentine national team. They are training together every day.”
Messi has shined numerous times with Di Maria over the past decade, while the new PSG forward just started to feature alongside Paredes several years ago.
This trio has already celebrated a triumph at the international level with their 2021 Copa America tournament victory. Now, they will look to help PSG win the UEFA Champions League competition over this season.
