Paris Saint-Germain clinched the biggest victory win of its season with the 2-0 UEFA Champions League group stage win over Manchester City on matchday two.
PSG’s attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe did not put out for a collective dominant performance against the Premier League powerhouse. Still, Messi did score the very first goal of his PSG career.
PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma earned a start in the match, as he recorded several key saves against the reigning Premier League champions. But one of his notable takeaways from the result is the sheer fact that he played alongside Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.
In speaking to the Italian-based outlet Sky Sport, Donnarumma offered his takeaways to featuring alongside this star-studded attacking trio.
“It’s great to play with all these champions,” Donnarumma said. “They help you so much, they make you grow and it’s amazing. Congratulations to Leo for his first goal. We all know he’s a phenomenon, there’s nothing to say.”
Donnarumma is currently in competition with Keylor Navas to be PSG’s go-to starting goalkeeper in critical matches. It will be noteworthy to see who will start out at the goalkeeper position in PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Rennes.
