Former Arsenal FC and FC Barcelona forward Thierry Henry served as a pundit for Amazon Prime Video’s (via Canal Supporters) coverage of Paris Saint-Germain-Stade de Reims.
During the broadcast, Henry commented on the debut of Lionel Messi and was amazed at the response that the crowd gave the 34-year-old, considering the match was on the road.
Henry adds that the only time he’s seen a crowd chant a player’s name in unison was with Andrés Iniesta. It will be interesting to see if this is a one-off event or if they’ll be more of this at some other stadiums around Ligue 1.
“It’s amazing, I’m really happy. When he entered, I had rarely seen that except with Andrés Iniesta where the whole stadium chanted his name,” Henry said.
“I told myself at one point that he’s a PSG player anyway, but hey, he goes above all of that, he’s an extraordinary player. For having worked with him, he’s a fairly simple and humble player, but when you give him the ball he’s sometimes disrespectful.”
