Lionel Messi may soon join Paris Saint-Germain as a free transfer. This possible blockbuster move has not yet been finalized, but it may be completed quite soon.
Even as manager Niko Kovac is aiming to see his AS Monaco side compete with PSG in Ligue 1 over this season, he is backing Messi to join France’s top flight, which he recently spoke further about (via Bein Sports).
“I would be very happy that [Lionel Messi] is [at PSG] because it gives Ligue 1 a big upgrade,” Kovac said.”
“I remember the game we played against each other in Basel. We won with Croatia 3-2. He started and I think he was 16. This shows how old I am at the moment.
“I would like it because for me, he is the best player. Everyone would go into the stadium to see him.”
Messi has never faced AS Monaco before in a competitive fixture.
