For the first time in his career, new Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi will be playing in a league other than La Liga as the Argentine is set to feature in Ligue 1 this season.

Many have speculated on just how Messi will adapt to playing in Ligue 1, as the league is often known for its physicality.

Sevilla star and Argentina national side playmaker Alejandro Gomez is not much concerned with how Messi will react to playing in a new league after years of starring in La Liga.

In speaking to the Argentine-based outlet La Nacion, Gomez analyzed on why Messi will find grand success in Ligue 1 this season.

“He will adapt well,” Gomez said. “Firstly, because he’s at Paris, who already had a great team before he arrived. Secondly, because Leo plays well and will do very well in any league, I don’t think the change will be difficult for him.

“Yes, we are talking about a different kind of football, a very physical league, but it won’t be a problem because Paris have dominated the league for a long time. They miss one now and then, but they usually win it. The challenge will be to transfer that supremacy to the Champions League and, among so many stars and so many good names, to build a team that can perform in the Champions League.”

Gomez sees that PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will be under hefty pressure to succeed with a team featuring multiple world-class attacking talents.

“On the one hand, it must be great to be the coach of that team, and on the other hand, you have double the pressure,” Gomez said.

“Group management will be fundamental, and if Pochettino is lively, I think he will do very well. Then he will have to be careful with the balance because we all like to play with five strikers and score 70 goals, but if you just attack and they come at you from all sides in defense, you’re going to have a bad time. That’s where the coach comes in to find the balance, which is essential to put together a good team.”

The wait is still on for just when manager Mauricio Pochettino will elect to provide Messi with his PSG debut, which will be a match to watch for all football fans.
