Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as one of the top destinations for current free agent and longtime Barcelona star Lionel Messi. The rumors of Messi possibly joining PSG cranked up once again following Barca’s announcement that it would not re-sign the Argentine forward due to financial complications.

For the moment, PSG believes that it can sign Messi while also keeping Mbappe over the ongoing summer transfer window, as noted by ESPN‘s Julien Laurens.

PSG has already opened up contacts with Messi over the possibility of signing him on a free transfer deal.

Even though wage concerns may arise for PSG if it signs Messi to a possible blockbuster free transfer deal, the club sees that it can keep Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Messi was open about his desire to leave Barca last year but ended up staying with the club in the end. For now, Messi has played his final match with the La Liga powerhouse, but this could all change over the coming weeks.
