Paris Saint-Germain had pursued Lionel Messi all summer until the 34-year-old decided to extend his contract with FC Barcelona. However, due to economic and structural obstacles, Messi and the Spanish side cannot reach a deal; as a result, both parties will be parting ways.
Since the capital club dropped its pursuit of the Argentine forward, they’ve gone on to add various other players while trying to offload others to balance their wage bill. RMC Sport (via Paris Fans) reports that Messi had a proposal from PSG on the table before choosing to extend with Barcelona.
Now that the extension has fallen, an arrival for Messi in Paris is possible if the former Barcelona forward chooses to come. However, before Les Parisiens can pursue the player, they’ll need to study its economic possibilities since the proposal they had on the table is no longer valid.
The French media outlet adds that those within the Ligue 1 side assure that financially, PSG can’t bring the Argentine forward, but they are trying to find a solution.
