Lionel Messi has left FC Barcelona as both parties could not reach a contract extension due to economic and structural obstacles.

The 34-year-old is now weighing his options with Paris Saint-Germain only place he can go to in Europe that can afford his wages since Manchester City has spent their money on Jack Grealish and saving the rest for Harry Kane.

Foot Mercato reports that the capital club is indeed the massive favorite since the negotiations with Messi have already advanced. The French media outlet adds that both sides are talking about a two-year contract, plus an optional year.

Although Messi’s departure from Barcelona came on a Thursday night, PSG has done a lot of work placing themselves with an opportunity to strike if Messi’s tenure with the Spanish side came to an end.

Furthermore, it helps that the players on the squad also did some work, often engaging in talks with Messi, starting with Neymar Jr., Angel Di Maria, and others.

At the moment, PSG is optimistic regarding the probability of landing Messi. The French giants have already approached the Ligue de Football Professionnel in anticipation of the registration of the contract of the Argentine.
