PSG Mercato: Bayer Leverkusen Reopens a Transfer Interest for Draxler

With the arrival of high-wage-earner Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain may now be looking to free up cash on its annual wage bill.

Even as PSG did sign Julian Draxler to a multiyear extension deal earlier this year, the club could soon be parting ways with the midfielder over the ongoing summer transfer window.

As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Todofichajes, German club Bayer Leverkusen has reached out to PSG to discuss a possible transfer move for Draxler.

PSG has set a €20 million transfer demand for the German midfielder. The French powerhouse is awaiting word on whether the talent may soon reach a personal terms agreement with the Bundesliga side.

Amid such a stacked attacking unit upfront, Draxler is slated to become more of a third-string option for the team as a winger or attacking midfielder this season. He has already featured with PSG in Ligue 1 play this season, but his playing time minutes over the remainder of the season may be limited as the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria will be in the fold for the team.

Draxler has had previous interest from Bayer Leverkusen in years past, so such a move can not be counted out now.
