For the first time this season, new Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was in the team’s squad list for an official match.
Donnarumma wound up not featuring in PSG’s away Ligue 1 fixture against Brest, as Keylor Navas earned his third start of the ongoing league campaign. The Costa Rican goalkeeper did his job as PSG finished with its third straight league win of the season.
For the moment, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino does not have an answer on who will be the team’s set starting goalkeeper for the remainder of the season, but he did provide a key update on this matter following the match (via RMC Sport).
“It’s a decision we have to make as we have to make other decisions in a group of 27-28 players,” Pochettino said. “There is only one goalkeeper who can start a game, and we will continue to make these decisions as we have always done.”
PSG now has a key matchup against Reims up next. It will be noteworthy to see whether Donnarumma will be called upon to get his first start out at the goalkeeper position this season.
