Pochettino Discusses Early Concerns With PSG’s Play in Ligue 1 This Season

Paris Saint-Germain is off to a three wins in three matches start in Ligue 1 play so far this season.

PSG’s performances over these select three matches have not been without error, as the side has allowed multiple avoidable goals coupled with the multitude of positioning miscues.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is not completely pleased with the team’s start to the new season. The Argentine sees that the team still has plenty to work on, which he touched upon following the 4-2 away league win over Brest (via L’Equipe).

“We have to improve in everything, in the offensive game, in the positional game,” Pochettino said. “Find a better position to counter teams that play in a low block. We have to find a more fluid game to have a higher quality offensive game. Defensively, we need to be able to prevent transitions.”

PSG may soon have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Marquinhos ready for in-game action. The trio earned an extended vacation after they took part in the 2021 Copa America Final.

PSG will now have a key matchup upcoming against Reims. This match could possibly see the season debuts of Messi, Neymar and Marquinhos, which would be much-needed to the team at this stage of the season.
