Paris Saint-Germain extended its Ligue 1 winning streak to three matches following its 4-2 away victory over Brest.
PSG midfielder Angel Di Maria made his return to action late in the game. Even in his short time on the pitch, the Argentine managed to be a key contributor as he sealed the win for the team with a keen chip goal.
Di Maria sees that PSG well needed this win to maintain its early season momentum, which the Argentine spoke further to PSG TV about after the match.
“I am very happy, very pleased to have been able to play again, to wear this shirt again, to be with the team for this first match, and to be able to score,” Di Maria said. “I think that it’s important for our confidence to start well. The truth is that I am very happy, especially about the win.
“I think that it was important because the score was still 3-2 at that moment in the match. We needed it.”
PSG’s next league fixture will come against Reims, which may see the season debuts of both Lionel Messi and Neymar.
It will certainly be interesting to see on whether PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino may choose to start Messi, Neymar and Di Maria against Reims. Di Maria showed against Brest that he is well ready to be a regular for the team over the early portion of the season, while both Messi and Neymar have been putting out quality showings in training as of late.
