After a chaotic past week in the world of football, Lionel Messi has now officially signed with Paris Saint-Germain.
The French powerhouse announced on Tuesday that it agreed to terms with Messi on a two-year free transfer deal. The agreement does come with an option for a third year, although it is not known whether it is a club or player option.
After the announcement, Messi provided his first comments on the move to PSG TV, where the Argentine forward made note of his excitement to begin a new journey in his career following his lengthy run with Barcelona.
“I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain,” Messi said. “Everything about the club matches my football ambitions. I know how talented the squad and the coaching staff are here. I am determined to help build something special for the club and the fans, and I am looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes.”
Messi joins PSG with plenty of expectations, especially as the club is still seeking to win the UEFA Champions League competition for the first time in club history.
It is currently not known as to when Messi will make his official PSG debut, but all eyes will be watching as to just how well he will mesh with star teammates Neymar and Kylian Mbappe this season.
