Former PSG Defender Florenzi Could Soon Return to Ligue 1

Now-former Paris Saint-Germain defender Alessandro Florenzi recently returned to parent club AS Roma at the start of the ongoing summer transfer window. PSG had an option to keep Florenzi on a permanent transfer deal but elected against doing so in the end.

Florenzi still could feature in Ligue 1 this upcoming season. As noted by the Italian-based outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Onze Mondial), Florenzi is garnering interest from Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais for a possible transfer deal.

Lyon is looking for a new versatile fullback considering that defender Mattia De Sciglio returned to parent club Juventus following his one-season loan stint with the side.

More so, AS Roma is well open to offloading Florenzi on a permanent transfer deal.

The Italian fullback featured in 21 Ligue 1 fixtures last season with PSG, where he notched two goals and one assist over the campaign.

If Florenzi does go on to move to Lyon, he may be tasked with defending Kylian Mbappe when OL clashes with PSG in league play.
