Following Argentina’s win over Brazil in the 2021 Copa America Final, many were particularly intrigued with the conversation that Lionel Messi, Neymar and Leandro Paredes had off the pitch.
Of course, many began to speculate whether Neymar and Paredes were attempting to recruit Messi to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, this was not the case.
In speaking to the Argentine-based outlet TyC Sports, Paredes provided the details behind the conversation that he had with two of the greats in the sport today.
“With Ney, we had agreed to change the shirt,” Paredes said. “At the end of the game, we couldn’t do it because I was on the pitch celebrating, but when I went to get my phone in the locker room to talk to my family, I saw that there was a message from him waiting for me outside, and so I went back to the locker room area to find him.
“We didn’t talk about the final. We talked about how we were, how the family was doing, what we were going to do on vacation and what we had done in these 45 days.
“It was more about something else than the final itself. With that you realize what kind of people they (Messi and Neymar) are. Beyond the stars, they have the humility to sit down after such an important final and talk about other things.”

All three players are now currently enjoying a much-needed mini-vacation following the Copa America tournament.
