Report: Paredes Expected to Miss PSG’s 2021 Trophee des Champions Final Against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes is among the few players who have still not joined up with the team for its ongoing preseason schedule.

Paredes recently enjoyed triumph as he helped the Argentina national team win the 2021 Copa America tournament. The PSG workhorse midfielder earned a start in the final against Brazil, where teammate Angel Di Maria etched his name in La Albiceleste history after scoring the lone goal of the match.

As noted by the Brazilian-based outlet UOL, PSG granted Paredes and Di Maria a 20-day vacation after they featured in the near month-long Copa America tournament. As a result, the two PSG midfielders will not be available for the team’s upcoming 2021 Trophee des Champions Final against Lille OSC, since this matchup will take place on Aug. 1.

Paredes is expected to be back with PSG on Aug. 2, where he will then feature in the team’s scheduled training sessions ahead of the upcoming new Ligue 1 season.

This mini-vacation for Paredes is very much deserved for him. He sure delivered for PSG in key matches last season, including in UEFA Champions League knockout stage play.
