The Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain rumor has gone on for the past several months. However, leading up to the summer transfer window opening, these reports cooled off. Now that the 34-year-old is a free agent, this rumor is once again picking up steam.
According to Spanish media outlet AS, the capital club reportedly remains interested in Messi and sent an offer to the Argentina international. The report also states that while the forward remains focused on the Copa America, his father maintains contact with the Ligue 1 side.
Last year, PSG forward Neymar Jr. expressed the desire to play with Messi again, which became fuel to the rumors surrounding the French giants and the Argentine player.
Nonetheless, it seems as though Messi will likely return to FC Barcelona, which could be a scare tactic by the player’s representatives. The Spanish club does need to be strict with its spending this summer, and perhaps they’re only willing to pay Messi so much. This saga should move quickly once the 34-year-old is done playing this summer.
