One of the reasons that Georginio Wijnaldum landed with Paris Saint-Germain was manager Mauricio Pochettino pushing for the player. The Argentine tactician has admired the 30-year-old since his time coaching in the Premier League and was close to signing him a few years ago.
It seems as though the capital club could be in on a player that Pochettino also holds in high regard. The Athletic reports that talk of a contract extension between Jordan Henderson and Liverpool have taken place, but no real progress occurs.
Negotiations are at a standstill but haven’t broken off as dialogue remains ongoing, but it is a situation that is both complicated and sensitive. The 31-year-old is under contract with Liverpool until 2023.
Meanwhile, over at the French capital, Pochettino is a big fan of Henderson, so he’s keeping a close eye on the latest developments. Nonetheless, this could also be a rumor to get one side going on these extension talks as PSG is a club that often sees its name thrown around.
