For many months, the future of Lionel Messi has been at the center of the debates. The 34-year-old’s contract with FC Barcelona expired on June 30. Despite the suspense, it appears as though the Argentina international will remain with the Spanish side.
One of the possible destinations for Messi was Paris Saint-Germain, especially following the comments made by Neymar Jr. The 29-year-old stated last year his desire to play with his former Barcelona teammate. Nonetheless, it doesn’t appear as though that will be happening.
Le Parisien reports that PSG is not working on recruiting the Barcelona star. After the cameras caught Neymar, Messi, and Leandro Paredes sharing a moment following the Copa America final. This resulted in speculation whether the two players did some last-minute pitches to join the French club.
However, it appears as though Messi will extend his contract with the Spanish club. The only reason the agreement is taking long is due to the players like Samuel Umtiti, Miralem Pjanić, and Antoine Griezman that Barcelona wants to sell off to balance their wage scale.
