Lille OSC has decided not to pursue a permanent transfer move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico, according to a report from RMC Sport.
Lille had shown an interest in signing Rico, especially as the team still has a need for a veteran goalkeeper.
More so, PSG is aiming to offload Rico over the ongoing summer transfer window. The French powerhouse recently signed Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer deal, so the club is open to selling Rico rather than designating him as the team’s third-string goalkeeper for the upcoming season.
Still, Rico will not be joining Lille, as the side has elected to end its interest in pursuing such a transfer move.
PSG remains committed to selling Rico before the ongoing summer transfer window closes. However, as the report further added, PSG club officials would at the least be open to sending Rico away on a one-season loan deal for the upcoming year.
Rico has garnered notable recent transfer interest from other clubs, including Besiktas. But for now, PSG will wait to see whether any club will go all out to sign the Spanish goalkeeper on either an outright permanent transfer agreement or a mere one-season loan deal.
