Paris Saint-Germain is expected to have a notable dilemma on who will be its starting goalkeeper this season. Veteran goalkeeper Keylor Navas held this position for the team last season but is expected to have competition for this role from new talent Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Many have already picked a side on who should be the starting goalkeeper for PSG this upcoming season. However, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino still has not yet publicly revealed his final decision on this matter.
In speaking during a press conference ahead of PSG’s upcoming 2021 Trophee des Champions Final against Lille OSC (via Le Parisien), Pochettino discussed this notable goalkeeper dilemma.
“Football is about decisions,” Pochettino said. “Human relations are the most important to maintain a healthy group, a positive dynamic, competitiveness. The collective interest will always be above individual interests. You need a large group to raise the level.”
For the moment, Navas is slated to start for PSG in this upcoming key final against Lille. It will be noteworthy to see whether the Costa Rican goalkeeper will start in the team’s opening fixtures of the upcoming 2021-2022 Ligue 1 season.
