As with many other powerhouse clubs in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain is filled with multiple coveted prospects in its youth system. From Xavi Simons to Timothee Pembele, PSG has several players who have the potential to soon become regulars with the first-team.
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is well renowned for developing youth talents, which was often seen during his time with Premier League side Tottenham.
Now with PSG, Pochettino sees that the French side must continue to provide its prospects with opportunities to further develop their play. The Argentine manager further spoke to Bein Sports (via RMC Sport) about this matter.
“There are very young players,” Pochettino said. “I think that the future project of PSG is not only to sign great players as it is doing, it is also to have this identity with the young talents of the training center. With time, here, we will have to make a mix. It’s important for the club, for the people, for the fans. It would be good.”
Pochettino has provided plenty of the team’s prospects with crucial playing time minutes over preseason so far, including with Simons. The Dutch prospect has so far scored two goals over PSG’s three preseason friendly fixtures.
Pochettino could very well end up providing some of the team’s prospects with key appearances over the upcoming season, including in Ligue 1 and Coupe de France matches.
