Argentina and Brazil will clash today in the 2021 Copa America Final, which is a fixture that many football fans around the world will tune in for.
Among the numerous storylines for this match is the potential duel between Paris Saint-Germain teammates Leandro Paredes and Neymar.
Paredes has had experience in going up against Neymar, but this will be a notable test for the Argentine midfielder considering the stakes of it being a major tournament final.
In speaking to the Argentine-based outlet TyC Sports (via UOL), Paredes opened up on just what it would take to contain the Selecao forward.
“He knows I’m going to drive him crazy, and he told me,” Paredes said. “He also told me that we would probably fight the whole game.
“You have to mark [Neymar] closely but hit him as little as possible. It’s impossible to decide, you never know where he’s going.”
It will be noteworthy to see if Paredes does go on to start in this Copa America final. Paredes did not start in Argentina’s semifinal fixture against Colombia, so it will be interesting to see whether La Albiceleste manager Lionel Scaloni will call on the PSG midfielder to help lead the team’s midfield setup for this matchup.
