Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti had his best tournament showing for the Italian national team over Euro 2020.
Verratti surpassed expectations in the tournament, especially considering that he had just come off a notable right knee injury.
From his Euro 2020 debut against Wales and on, Verratti simply proved to be one of the more versatile midfielders in the tournament.
As noted by Opta, Verratti ranked first among all midfielders in multiple key Euro 2020 stats ever since he featured in the group stage match against Wales.

It is quite notable that Verratti managed to successfully complete 18 tackles, as he played a massive role in helping Italy win back possession in crucial moments over the Euro 2020 knockout stage.
It remains to be seen whether the PSG midfielder will go on to earn a spot in the final UEFA Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament, which would be yet another achievement in his international career with the Azzurri.
