Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel claimed UEFA Champions League triumph with Chelsea this past season following one of the most impressive knockout stage runs in years. Chelsea only allowed a mere two goals over the knockout stage as the side put together standout performances with ease, such as with the clean sheet win over Manchester City in the final.
Pablo Sarabia is far from surprised that Tuchel has found major success over his current run with Chelsea.
Sarabia knows Tuchel very well, as he worked under him for two seasons during the German manager’s time with PSG. The Spanish playmaker posted multiple impressive performances under Tuchel, including in crucial Ligue 1 matches.
In speaking to the Spanish-based outlet El Pais, Sarabia singled out Tuchel’s ability to get the best out of his players.
“It’s a football with more space, faster transitions,” Sarabia said of Tuchel’s style with Chelsea. “One of Tuchel’s virtues is that he knows how to adapt to the team he has. He had a squad to put a lot of intensity in high pressing.
“He did a great job with us, last year we won everything except the Champions League final. He has very good concepts when it comes to reading the matches and giving instructions to the player in real-time.”
PSG enjoyed formidable success under Tuchel thanks to the trophy wins in four different competitions along with the appearance in last year’s Champions League final.
