Report: PSG Reopens a Late Interest in Signing Barcelona Transfer Target Wijnaldum

Paris Saint-Germain is making a late push to sign soon-to-be-former Liverpool midfielder and Barcelona transfer target Georginio Wijnaldum, according to a report from ESPN.

Wijnaldum will officially part ways with Liverpool in the coming weeks when his contract expires, which will see his five-year run with the Premier League powerhouse come to an end.

Over the past months, multiple clubs have been linked with the Dutch midfielder for a possible free transfer deal, including PSG. One such report from Le Parisien noted that PSG had an early intrigue in signing Wijnaldum as club officials aimed to revamp the team’s midfield.

Now, PSG has reopened its interest in signing Wijnaldum as the club has already submitted a “more generous financial offer” to the Dutch talent. As it stands, Wijnaldum is now leaning towards snubbing Barcelona in favor of a move to the Ligue 1 giants.

Wijnaldum is also garnering interest from Bayern Munich, but it is not yet known whether the reigning Bundesliga champions have submitted a free transfer offer to the midfielder.

Wijnaldum totaled for 51 appearances in all competitions with Liverpool over the recent season.
