Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes earned a start for the Argentine national team in its 2021 Copa America opener against Chile.

Paredes had a formidable performance in the match as he took on the role of being Argentina’s main holding midfielder; he recorded 36 passes, won four ground duels and completed two tackles in the 1-1 draw result.

Now, Paredes may be in line for another crucial start in South America’s premier international tournament.

As noted by TyC Sports, Paredes is expected to start for Argentina in the upcoming massive Copa America group stage fixture against Uruguay.

The report notes that there are slated to be no major changes in Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni’s starting 11 for this matchup.

PSG playmaker Angel Di Maria may earn a start in this fixture. Scaloni elected to go with Nicolas Gonzalez as his starting left winger against Chile, but he could very well opt to slot in Di Maria to occupy this position for the showdown with Uruguay.

Argentina will be aiming for its first win of the tournament.
