Juventus FC wants to strengthen its midfield this summer and currently has US Sassuolo Calcio midfielder Manuel Locatelli as their top target. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes appears to be The Old Lady’s Plan B this summer.
Locatelli is having an outstanding performance at the UEFA European Championship for Italy, where he has two goals in two fixtures. As a result, the price is going up for the 23-year-old.
According to Tuttosport (via Canal Supporters), should Juventus fail in their pursuit of Locatelli, Paredes and even their former midfielder Miralem Pjanić appear to be backup plans.
The report states that Paredes could see his playing time decrease with the arrival of Georginio Wijnaldum. The 26-year-old could consider moving back to Serie A, where he spent time with AS Roma and FC Emploi.
Nonetheless, this is all speculation, and it would be odd to see Paredes depart to Juventus, considering the midfielder flourished under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. Regardless, should PSG want to offset any big spending they do this summer, Paredes could garner a return north of €20-million.
