Eric Garcia officially made his return to Barcelona this past week. The now-former Manchester City defender signed off on a multiyear deal with Barca as a free agent.
Garcia had a multitude of clubs interested in signing him over the past weeks. Among the clubs that made a late pursuit for Garcia was Paris Saint-Germain, as noted by the Spanish-based outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Foot Mercato). PSG aimed to bolster its backline depth and viewed Garcia as a potential defensive addition.
In the end, Garcia declined PSG’s interest in a possible free transfer move, as he elected to stay firm on a return to Barca.
For now, it will be noteworthy to see whether PSG will continue to scour the transfer market in search of defensive depth, especially after a season in which multiple center-backs missed time due to injuries.
