The transfer window isn’t open, but Paris Saint-Germain appears to have its goalkeeper of the future in Gianluigi Donnarumma. The soon-to-be-former AC Milan goalkeeper will be departing the Italian club later this month.
It’s no secret that in having Mino Raiola, Donnarumma wants a lucrative contract. In an interview with PSG Talk, Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano spoke about how the French giants are the only option for the 22-year-old to secure a significant salary.
However, as both parties discuss these last details, the salary could range from season to season. Nonetheless, as Romano states, PSG Sporting Director Leonardo wants Donnarumma. Furthermore, the feeling is mutual as the goalkeeper desires Les Parisiens.
“The deal is not signed yet; they are around a verbal agreement because they’re discussing salary; it’s a big salary, 12-million per season,” Romano said.
“It will only be 12-million if all the add-ons in the contract are activated. It’s not 100-percent sure that Donnarumma 12-million per season. It could be 8, 9, or 10-million per season; it all depends on the season, how much he’s playing and what PSG is winning.”
Although it seems PSG is on the verge of locking up Donnarumma, they did face some competition. FC Barcelona and Juventus FC showed interest in the goalkeeper.
Despite the two sides eyeing Donnarumma, it was never serious, Romano states, Massimiliano Allegri returning to the Old Lady stopped those rumors. Meanwhile, Donnarumma’s wage demands were too much for the Spanish club.
“Mino Raiola was talking with Barcelona; also Juventus were interested, but then when Allegri joined the club, they decided to continue with Szczęsny as the goalkeeper because of the good relationship they have,” Romano said. “With Barcelona, they told Raiola they were interested, but the salary was a problem … they can’t offer crazy salaries for Donnarumma.”
