Neymar has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain is now a top-five team in world football today.
Since Neymar’s arrival at PSG, the Ligue 1 giants have made great strides toward being a perennial force in European football. For instance, Neymar was the catalyst behind PSG’s deep Champions League knockout stage runs over the past two seasons.
This past season, PSG pulled off multiple impressive wins in Champions League play, including away knockout stage victories over Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
PSG’s tie wins over Barca and Bayern have further convinced Neymar that the French side is now a powerhouse club in Europe, which he touched upon further during his talk with Foot Paris.
“PSG has grown a lot since I’ve been here,” Neymar said. “I see it every day. I think that the club has above all gained the respect of its opponents.
“When you are at PSG, you know and feel that you are part of one of the best teams in the world, like top five in the world. Paris has done everything to get to this level.”
For Neymar, he has continued to maintain his status as one of the top players in the sport today. His eight goal contributions in Champions League play this past season sure proved that he can still play at a high level against the best teams in club football today.
