Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe called his UEFA Champions League hat-trick performance against Barcelona the “best” match of his career so far.
Mbappe shined for PSG in the Champions League round of 16 first leg fixture against Barcelona. The French forward dazzled with three goals scored and four goal-scoring chances created for teammates.
One could argue that this performance from the PSG star was the best by any forward over the recent season.
In speaking to Esquire, Mbappe lauded his performance against Barca as the clear No. 1 showing of his career so far.
“The best match of my career,” Mbappe said. “It was complete. I helped my team both offensively and defensively, and I succeeded in the creation and finishing of my moves, in one-against-ones.
“I won 90 percent of my duels, if that stat is correct. All match, I never had a moment when I felt extinguished.”
Mbappe finished off the Champions League knockout stage with a career-high six goals, which also included a pair of key scores against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinal round.
Mbappe has already put together an impressive collection of keen performances, but this showing against Barca certainly stands out considering the magnitude of the match.
