Many expected Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe to shine over the Euro 2020 tournament, but this did not turn out to be the case in the end.

The French national team was an early exit in Euro 2020 following its shocking penalty shootout elimination at the hands of Switzerland in the Round of 16.

Mbappe had one of his worst career showings with the French national team in this match.

The PSG forward totaled for five shots off target, which included this notable miss in extra time.

In a moment that surprised many, Mbappe missed his penalty shootout attempt, which handed Switzerland the shocking win in the Euro 2020 knockout stage.

Overall, Mbappe finished his Euro 2020 campaign with zero goals scored, one assist recorded and five big chances missed.

Mbappe is surely not deserving of all the blame for Les Bleus’ shortcomings in this tournament, but many will signal out his vast struggles as a reason for why the side failed to meet expectations.

The French forward will now look ahead to settling his footballing future at the club level.
