La Liga President Tebas Clarifies on Whether Real Madrid Could Afford to Sign Mbappe

La Liga president Javier Tebas detailed why Real Madrid could very well sign Kylian Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain.

Over the past year, Mbappe has been rumored to be Real Madrid’s top transfer target for the upcoming summer transfer window. Los Blancos have longed aimed to find a potent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, and the club sees that Mbappe could fit the bill in being its next top-class goal-scorer.

As with many other clubs in Europe, Real Madrid faces uncertainty regarding its financial situation heading into the summer window, especially as club officials continue to the work around the economic effects from last year’s coronavirus shutdown.

Still, Tebas sees that Real Madrid would be able to afford Mbappe but it would come under one notable condition, which he detailed further during his talk with the Spanish-based show El Golzao de Gol.

“Madrid could sign Mbappe, it’s feasible,” Tebas said. “But the fact is that Real Madrid need to concentrate on other issues. Bale is the key because of his high salary.

“It would be good for La Liga to have Mbappe playing in Spain. For a club to sign both Mbappé and Haaland together, that seems impossible to me.”

PSG has not been reported to show any interest in parting ways with Mbappe amid his uncertain contract extension situation. Thus, Real Madrid officials would have to work overtime in order to pry Mbappe away from the Ligue 1 giants.
