Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is among the Italian national team’s major injury concerns. The Italian midfielder finished off the recent Ligue 1 campaign with PSG having missed multiple matches due to a knee injury.

Verratti did not appear in Italy’s recent fixture against San Marino. However, Italian national team officials are well confident that he will be able to feature in Euro 2020 considering that they elected to include the PSG talent in its final squad list for the tournament.

Ahead of Italy’s upcoming international friendly fixture against the Czech Republic, Mancini provided (via FIGC’s official website) yet another key update regarding Verratti’s notable injury.

“Marco Verratti is making giant strides,” Mancini said. “We will assess the situation next week.”

Verratti will have to accelerate his injury recovery process if he aspires to feature in Italy’s opening Euro 2020 group stage fixture against Turkey next week. If he is unable to go for this match, Italian national team officials will then look towards its fixture against Switzerland to see whether Verratti will be able to finally make his tournament debut.
