Former Italian and Serie A-winning midfielder Cristiano Zanetti explained why Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi would be better off with AS Roma over Juventus.
Icardi has been heavily linked with multiple clubs over the past year for a transfer move, including Juventus. The Serie A giants would be open to a move for Icardi and may consider a swap deal that would then send Paulo Dybala to PSG.
Juventus and AS Roma are the lone top-seven sides in Serie A with question marks regarding their center forward depth. While Icardi has been linked with both sides, Zanetti would see the Argentine as a better fit with Roma than Juventus, which he detailed why during his talk with the Italian-based outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
“He doesn’t strike me as a player for Allegri,” Zanetti said. “He seems to me more for Roma. He’s a static one up front and for Mou, he could be a Milito type.”
Icardi recently denied the rumors regarding a possible PSG departure in the upcoming transfer window. Still, PSG can choose to offload the Argentine forward and look for a new starting center forward in the transfer market.
