Florenzi Singles Out Mbappe as the ‘Best’ Player for the Upcoming Euro 2020 Tournament

Alessandro Florenzi called Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe the “best” player for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

In his first season at PSG, Florenzi had a front-row seat to watch arguably the most complete campaign of Mbappe’s Ligue 1 career. Mbappe once again finished as Ligue 1’s top scorer after tallying 27 goals over 31 appearances in the season.

In speaking during a recent press conference (via La Gazzetta dello Sport) ahead of the Italian national team’s Euro 2020 group stage opener against Turkey, Florenzi lauded Mbappe and noted that even he does not know how to contain the forward.

“France has Mbappe, the strongest player in the European Championship,” Florenzi said. “I saw him all year.

“How do you stop him? As a team. He’s the best at the Euros, maybe even in the world. In training, sometimes I didn’t manage to stop him, other times I did. Even on the PlayStation, he’s hard to stop.”

Mbappe is well expected to emerge as a top contender for the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament award. The PSG star could end up rivaling the likes of Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and England’s Harry Kane for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot award.

This will be a key international tournament for Mbappe at this stage in his career.
