Over the past year, now-former FC Bayern Munich defender David Alaba was heavily linked with a free transfer move to Paris Saint-Germain. The French powerhouse aimed to bolster its defensive unit with a player of Alaba’s caliber.

In the end, Alaba elected to leave Bayern for a multiyear free transfer agreement with Real Madrid.

George Alaba, the father of the new Real Madrid defender, recently provided key details (via Le10Sport) on the reasons behind his son’s move to Los Blancos. He went on to note that the new Real Madrid star received free transfer offers from multiple clubs, but PSG was not among those that aimed to sign the versatile talent to such a deal.

“We had offers from the top-four in the Premier League, two from Italy and three from Germany,” George Alaba said. “Real Madrid was the only option.”

With Alaba no longer on the market, PSG will have to look elsewhere if it still aspires to bolster its backline depth with a veteran defender.
