AS Monaco defender Caio Henrique revealed the difficulties in going up against Paris Saint-Germain’s trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria.
Many Ligue 1 defenders over the years have had their fair share of struggles in containing PSG’s coveted attacking unit. Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria each have often dazzled with world-class attacking sequences in league play, which has more than not left opposing defenders in awe.
Henrique faced PSG three times in all competitions this past season. While his Monaco side won two of the three meetings against the French powerhouse, it was surely not an easy task for the Brazilian in going up against PSG’s fierce attacking trio.
In speaking to Goal, Henrique was asked to pick on who among Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria is the most difficult to defend. Instead of choosing one, the Monaco talent opted to laud each of them.
“It is difficult to pick one, they are three spectacular players,” Henrique said. “Mbappe has his explosiveness and dribbling as a strong point, while Neymar, in addition to his dribbling, has a lot of ability in finding space.
“Di Maria is also difficult to face. I think that all three in some way create a lot of difficulties.”
Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria have posted multiple grand performances against Monaco over the years, such as with the French forward’s recent standout showing in the 2021 Coupe de France Final.
