‘We Got What We Needed’ — Neymar Discusses PSG’s Key Ligue 1 Win Over Lens

Paris Saint-Germain extended its Ligue 1 winning streak to four matches with the key home win against RC Lens.

In the match, Neymar led the way for PSG with a goal scored and an assist recorded. The Brazilian now stands at 11 goal involvements in 15 league appearances over the ongoing campaign.

This performance was much needed for Neymar, especially as Kylian Mbappe was unavailable due to a right calf injury. Following the match, Neymar spoke further to PSG TV on the mentality following this win against current fifth place side Lens.

“We knew it would be a competitive and difficult game, but we got what we needed which was the victory,” Neymar said.

“Most of the team was a bit tired, mentally rather than physically, and we had to recover as soon as possible to play this game. We still have some details to improve of course but we achieved the most important thing which was the win to keep us in the fight for the title.”

Neymar will now look ahead to the upcoming massive UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg showdown with current Premier League leaders Manchester City. The Brazilian forward is yet to score a goal in this season’s Champions League knockout stage, so he will surely aim to end this drought and help guide his side to a second consecutive appearance in the final of this competition.
